How to apply for a place for your child at Loxley Primary School

Applications to Start School with us at Loxley Primary

If you are a parent of primary aged children, we hope that after visiting our website, you may be interested in your child/children attending our school. Visits are warmly welcomed by appointment but due to considerable interest, we may ask you to join other parents to show you around our school and to answer any questions you may have. Please see the contacts page of this website to book an appointment.

Loxley Primary School does not control its own admissions so all applications for a Reception class place (or to start school in a different year group) have to be made to Sheffield’s Primary Admissions Team. Information regarding applications to school can be found on the Sheffield City Council website (a link to the site can be found below).

The Primary Admissions Team can also be contacted by telephone: 0114 2735766.

Applications for children starting school for the first time have to be done earlier than some parents may expect. The application period normally starts in the October of the school year before a child would normally start school and the application period finishes in mid-January. So, to clarify, in the school year when your child turns 4 years old between September 1st and August 31st, it is the October to mid-January period of that school year when you need to apply for a school place.

The website below gives you all the information you will need including information about what to do if you want to transfer children who have already started school to Loxley from another school. At the time of writing this, the first section of the website is about secondary aged pupils but if you scroll down you should find the information you need. Please be aware that it is very likely that we will have more applications than places available for Reception “new starters” but if Loxley does appeal to you, it is always worth applying to come here as our intake varies from year to year and in most years that does include some children who live out of our school’s catchment area.

We do think our school is a little gem. If it is the kind of school that appeals to you, please apply. If your application is successful, we look forward to making you feel very welcome as part of our school’s community.
