Pride, Confidence, Creativity and Joy in our Art Curriculum

All pupils experience a variety of activities in both two and three dimensions, exploring a wide range of media, and techniques, to represent and communicate their experiences. We place high emphasis on displaying children’s artistic work in order to celebrate achievement and provide inspiration.

Arts Week

Staff and pupils are excited by this annual event in which all pupils work, at length on a whole school creative arts focus. Activities cover a wide range of creative arts including music, dance, digital art, and craft activities as well as areas in the Art curriculum, such as drawing, painting and sculpture. For example the Y2 class were inspired by Scottish artists Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Ritchie Collins and they listened to music by Brandon and Derek Fiecher about the Loch Ness Monster. You can see some of the amazing work they created in the photograph of their display celebrating their achievements during Arts Week.

A Depth in skill acquisition - A Breadth of artistic experiences

Children at Loxley Primary School benefit from a structured skill progression in Art using a range of media from clay to water colours. Pupils enjoy Art without fear of failure being inspired by rich stimuli. The artwork across has all been created by Loxley pupils using computing graphics software - don’t they look great? You might recognise a few places on the Yorkshire coast they used as inspiration.

Our art is influenced by famous artists, a range of cultures and, of course, our imagination!
