Class teacher (Initially for KS1)

Part time Main Scale Pay Range Grade M1 to M6

Established (permanent) Contract

We are seeking to appoint someone with experience or ambition to initially teach Key Stage One children. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone with drive and ambition to become part of the team at Loxley Primary School. We are at the heart of a vibrant and supportive community and have a reputation for innovative practice and staff development. Whilst set in a stunning rural location we also benefit from the opportunities of being part of a large city.

We are looking for an excellent class teacher whose main responsibilities will be:

•      To demonstrate a commitment to achieve the best outcomes for all children both in terms of their academic progress and well-being

•      To deliver teaching that inspires children to learn and enables them to reach their full potential

•      To pursue the aims of the school in a positive manner and promote the agreed Aiming High Together ethos

•      To work co-operatively within a whole staff team to achieve continuous improvement with constant regard to quality in both learning and teaching

•      To teach children according to their individual needs, including the planning and assessment of work in line with agreed policies of the school

•      To monitor and assess children’s progress and report to parents

•      To have a thorough understanding and strong ability in the teaching of reading and phonics

•      To implement and maintain the school’s policy on discipline and behaviour

•      To support the school’s endeavours to meet the needs of its community

•      To demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion

•      Participate in the school’s performance management process.

Loxley Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a self-disclosure form. The amendments to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provides that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website. Dates to visit the school (please book with the office in advance): Tuesday 7th May at 9:15am and Friday 10th May at 9:15am and again at 4pm, Friday 17th May 9:15am and again at 4pm. We understand this is not always possible but we recommend that candidates visit in the morning slots to see the school when children are learning.
